Congratulations to the Lonely Knight!

On Thursday 28th April Colin Bickers a.k.a. ‘The Lonely Knight‘ finally arrived at Buckingham Palace after walking 60 miles over 5 days!

The BBC were kind enough to give him his very own news article which you can read here.

He left Worthing on St.George’s Day and survived his journey to central London only through the generosity of the British public (and public houses!). His route was mapped live via GPS and can be viewed on the Social Hiking site here.

His insane quest was in aid of Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex and also Help for Heroes. Upon arrival at Westminster he had already hit his target of £2,500 but thanks to his interview on the BBC’s Royal Wedding TV coverage on Friday 29th April he has now raised nearly £3,500 from donations all around the world!

______ UPDATE ______

Revised figure raised as of May 11th is £6,138.80!! Wow! Blog article here

________________

He also had lots of other press coverage and appearances promoting his crusade, some of which can be viewed here. You can still done via the JustGiving site here.

A gallery recording his epic journey from Worthing to London can be viewed here.

Congratulations Lonely Knight! The only question on our minds now is what you are going to do next year?

Google Job Vacancy!

GoogleI wonder how many applications Google had for this job vacancy they posted on 1st April?

http://www.google.com/intl/en/jobs/uslocations/mountain-view/autocompleter/index.html

Probably quite a few!

Although I doubt anyone has 32,000 words per minute typing speed!

Google +1 button

Google +1 buttonInteresting news! Google have just announced their equivalent to the Facebook ‘Like’ button for their search results. There’s not a huge amount of information out there at the moment and several links they have supplied go to non-existant pages but of what we’ve seen it looks good!

Click here for more details about it.

Photography shoot – The Lonely Knight

It’s not every day you see St.George taking a stroll along the beach on the South Coast of England. With occasional passer-by comments such as “Where’s the dragon?” and “You’ll rust up on the beach mate“, the Lonely Knight (aka Colin Bickers) responds with random comments such as “What year is this?” and “Where can a weary soldier find a pint of English ale in this place?“.

Click here to view a selection of photographs from todays shoot.

The photo shoot is to promote the Lonely Knight’s upcoming charity walk which will see him carry a rose from Worthing’s Rose and Crown pub to London, arriving in time to cast the rose before the royal wedding carriage on the 29th April.

Visit his website here to keep up to date with his challenge.

He estimates it will take him 5 days and leaves Worthing on St.George’s Day. To add to the bravery of this gallant knight he will not be carrying and food, instead relying on the generosity of random establishments he may fall upon on his journey.

All charity proceeds will go to Chestnut Tree House, Sussex’s only children’s hospice which cares for life-limited children and young adults aged 0-19 and also provides support for their families.

Please donate to this worthy cause on the The Lonely Knight’s JustGiving page here.
